"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Sincerely,
Jesus
Forgiveness Defined: to imitate God, through His grace, in matters of personal injury; to bestow a favor unconditionally.
Basic Principles of Forgiveness
Principle 1 - Forgiveness is a must for wholeness of life and relationship in a fallen world.
Principle 2 - Forgiveness is an activity which always demands divine resources.
Principle 3 - Forgiveness is always, first, a matter of choice (an act of the will).
Principle 4 - Forgiveness is always a matter of relationship which involves another personality to which we must properly respond.
"Dear Heavenly Father, I choose to forgive (name the person) for (name the hurt). Without excusing them or condoning their actions, I release them and my rights to this hurt to you and your judgment and mercy. I absolutely refuse to hold anything against them. I cancel any vows that I made 'to get even' or 'to never forgive.' I ask you to heal the wounds to my spirit from this hurt and restore my relationship to you. Forgive my hatred and resentment and replace it with love for (name the person). I want to see them in heaven."
